Princeton University
was originally founded in 1746 at Elisabeth, New Jersey, as the "College of New Jersey"
and was moved to Princeton in 1776, where it was renamed "Princeton University".
It is a private research university and is one of the eight (8) universities that comprise the Ivy League.
Nine Princeton alumni attended the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and not surprisingly, the revised charter of 1799 called on the trustees to support the new Constitution of the United States.
